The Folk Song Of The Week this time around is Do Lord. You can have fun with this song on clawhammer and frailing banjo.
Have fun and don’t forget the E minor chord!
[G]I’ve got a home in Glory Land
That outshines the sun
[C]I’ve got a home in Glory Land
That outshines the [G]sun
I’ve got a home in Glory Land
That outshines the [Em]sun
[G]Way be[D7]yond the [G]blue
Chorus
[G]Do Lord, O do Lord
O do remember me (remember)
[C]Do Lord, O do Lord
Oh do remember [Em]me
[G]Way be[D7]yond the [G]blue
I took Jesus as my Saviour
You take Him too
I took Jesus as my Saviour
You take Him too
I took Jesus as my Saviour
You take Him too
Way beyond the blue
Yes, there are many similarities. That’s one reason I did so many variations. I was hoping it would give people ideas to use in other songs.
Hi Kelly… Been living for 75 years but only picking the banjo for about six months. I’m a reformed guitar picker! I enjoy your site and just received my copy of “Folk Songs For The 5-String Banjo”. Frailing is my style of choice and the songs are all familiar. Will you be doing an advanced version? I’ll be ready for more runs, beginnings and turn arounds soon! I’ve been looking for someone to jam with locally (Roselle area) but no luck so far. Thanks for all you do to help us pickers.
Milan,
You made my day with your comment. I hope you are enjoying the book.
I struggle with the idea of showing more advanced stuff. There are a lot of people showing more advanced frailing and clawhammer techniques but no one was teaching where to get the simple melody.
I decided to go the route of the simple melody since that was the first step I took on my journey and no one would show me how it worked.
I’m still thinking about it and I may do something soon.
Thanks again,
Kelly
